Teacher Appreciation Week

This week is teacher appreciation week. As a teacher myself, I quite enjoy this week! It is a nice time where people from all over let teachers know how special they really are.

So, if you think of it, thank a special teacher (or two, or three) who have made an impact in your life or in the lives of your children,. Nothing means more or boosts our spirits better than hearing how we have helped others.

The teachers that impacted my life were the ones who were supportive of me, and yet challenging to me. They were kind, funny, sarcastic and authentic. I knew they cared.

And that is what I hope to bring to the live of my students every day…that they know at least one person cares about them.

Sidenote – You may also consider buying them a Starbucks gift-card. Just sayin’. 🙂

Skin Care Routine

Skin Care Review Pic

For the past 15+ years, I have struggled with oily, acne-prone skin. I believed wholeheartedly that once I got out of my teens and into my twenties, that the acne would go away. While it did die down from time to time, I continued to have bad acne flare-ups. As I am now in my early thirties, I was shocked to see my acne and oily skin stick around. Once I turned 30 last year, I began to do some investigating into changing my skin care routine. I was looking for something that could help me with skin elasticity and wrinkles for aging while also helping me maintain clean skin for acne prevention & protection from acne scarring.

It was then that I stumbled upon this video (first video seen below). In it, Sineady Cady shares some WONDERFUL tips on how to maintain healthy, clean skin and prevent acne. The best part, is that it does not require prescription medication. It was a matter of changing some small steps into my routine and adding a few drugstore products. I also encourage you to consider all-natural skin care.I have tried some of it, and have found it helpful and beneficial. The second video below shares some great tips on creating your own all-natural skin care.

I also wanted to share with you some of the products I use to help maintain clean skin. Hopefully this can help those of you who are older and still struggle with acne and/or oily skin. Enjoy!

Products I use & Love:

Mary Kay Time Wise Miracle Set – Combination/Oily Skin (They also make this for dry skin or normal skin). This is AMAZING. It is not harmful to your skin and helps keep your skin healthy and wrinkle free as you age. I’d recommend this for anyone in their late-twenties/early thirties and beyond.

Mary Kay Eye Makeup Remover – For the days I do wear eye makeup, this is the best eye-makeup remover I have found.

Mary Kay Acne Treatment Gel – I use this as a spot treatment for pimples/acne. I haven’t found anything else that works better. I encourage you to shop around, as everyone’s skin is unique and responds to acne treatment medicines differently.

Yellow Facial Sponges – I use these to wash my face. This has been the BIGGEST help to my acne issues. It helps to deeply clean my skin, thus preventing some of the acne breakouts. I usually put a little of the cleanser on my skin, the under very warm/hot water, I get the sponge wet. Then, I’ll place a small amount of cleanser on the sponge and get suds going, and then clean all over my face in circular motions. I take my time so I get a good cleaning done.

Neutrogena Acne Face Wash – I use this when I need help removing makeup. I wash my face with this first, then move on to my Mary Kay timewise cleanser for a deeper clean. I would use my yellow sponges for both steps of cleansing to make sure my face gets clean from all the gunk in makeup.

Rose Water Toner – I stopped using the acne control toners because sometimes they can be too harsh on sensitive skin. I have been using various types of rose water toner, and it is MUCH more soothing to the skin, while still helping to clean it.

Lush Tea Tree Water – This stuff is wonderful! Like rose water toner, tea tree water is another non-irritating toner you can use to help clean your skin. It does not dry out the skin and helps to leave it feeling refreshed. This is a bit more expensive than rose water, but is another option, especially if you love LUSH products!

Lush Ultra Bland – Ultra Bland is a deep cleaning cleanser. It isn’t something I use everyday (although you could), but it works GREAT at deep cleaning. It looks more like a moisturizer when you put it on. I recommend rubbing it into your skin, and then using hot water to wipe off with either a yellow sponge OR running wet wipes through hot water. Make sure to wipe it off well, as it seeps into your skin easily! 🙂 I typically use this after wearing makeup all day. It helps get the gunk out that face washes leave behind.

Feel free to ask me any questions you might have. Happy Monday!

These are some VERY helpful videos on YouTube that I loved (mentioned above). I subscribed to both of these channels. Check them out!
